LUBA WEDMEDYK (nee Marchyk), born in Ukraine September 30, 1920 and passed away April 13, 2013 in Columbus, OH at age 92. Beloved wife of John (deceased); loving mother of Vera Kap (George) of Akron, OH, Alex (Joy) of Brunswick, OH and Nancy Alexander (Dick) of Columbus, OH; she leaves five cherished grandchildren: Sonia and Alexander Kap, William and Shaina Wedmedyk and Jon Alexander and other relatives in Ukraine. Luba lived through Holodomor (the Great Famine) as a child of a Ukrainian Orthodox priest. She finished studies in nursing in Ukraine. When WWII broke out, she worked on German farms and eventually as a surgical nurse in a displaced persons camp, where she met John. They married after the war and a few years later came to the United States to start a new life in Cleveland. The family suggests contributions to the St. Josaphat Dome Restoration Fund or the St. John Chrysostom Byzantine Catholic Church, Columbus, OH. Friends may call at THE KOLODIY-LAZUTA FUNERAL HOME, 5677 STATE RD., PARMA, TUESDAY 5-7 P.M. PARASTAS 7 P.M. Funeral Liturgy Wednesday, April 17 at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. (PLEASE MEET AT CATHEDRAL). Interment St. Andrew Cemetery.
