Anthony Joseph Czekanski

November 11, 1953 — July 26, 2025

Anthony Joseph Czekanski (11/11/53-7/26/25), age 72

Storyteller. Polak. Believer. Musician. Golfer.

If you knew Tony Czekanski, you know these are a few adjectives that best describe him and the person he was. He entered into eternal life July 26, 2025. His spirit will be carried on by his loving wife of 45 years, Denise (née Kalas), and son Philip. Preceded in death are his parents Julian & Emily (née Buganski). Devoted brother to Diana Irvin (Tom, deceased), and uncle to Kathy Jaronowski, Jennifer Dugan (Bill Klein), Michelle, Andrea and Brenda Kalas. Doting great-uncle to Julian Dugan & Monica Kalas. Brother-in-law to Dennis (deceased) & Rhonda Kalas, and Diane & Gary Rozak.

Tony lived life to the fullest and was the life of every party. He had a story (or 3) for just about everything. He loved to be around people – vivacious and sociable – always telling jokes. His sense of humor was top-notch.

Being 100% Polish, Tony took pride in his heritage – from singing and drumming in a Polka band, to Polish traditions throughout the year, especially during the holidays (he never met a pierogi he didn’t like). Tony was an active alumni member of Saint Casimir Polish Parish & school in Cleveland.

To the core, Tony’s belief in Jesus Christ was the center of his existence. His unwavering faith guided him in life, and gave him salvation in death. He loved sharing his credence with everyone, and spreading the good word.

Music was life for Tony. From humming a tune doing chores, singing in the shower, or playing a beat with his fingers on the dining table – he always incorporated music into his day to day. Tony played in a band for decades, where he relished in entertaining at parties, weddings, and picnics.

Well let me tell you something BROTHER! Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, and Ric Flair were some of Tony’s favorite WWE wrestling personalities. Tony had an over the top personality and was a lifelong Hulkamaniac! A favorite pastime was watching wrestling with his son Philip.

Tony loved to play golf with family and friends. Being outdoors, the challenge of the game, and being around people were his driving force for playing this enduring sport.

In addition to his passion for people, Tony loved animals, specifically dogs. He owned dogs throughout his life which brought him loyal companionship and great comfort.

A celebration of life is being planned at a later date, to acknowledge the wonderful man Tony Czekanski was, and how he touched everyone’s lives that knew him.
