Dmytro Stachiw (age 102) of Cleveland, Ohio passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025. Beloved husband of 49 years to the late Irene Stachiw (nee Semenchuk). Loving father of the late James Stachiw (Gladys) and Paula Zinsmeister. Cherished grandfather to Sarah Zinsmeister. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Stanley and Sophie, and his siblings, Irene, Joseph, Olga, Walter, and Mary.
Dmytro served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and returned home to start a family with his childhood sweetheart, Irene. He worked as a custodian in the Cleveland Public School District for 30 years, and later, in the maintenance department at MetroHealth Medical Center. Dmytro was a lifelong member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral. He loved to read and particularly enjoyed historical and non-fiction books. Dmytro will be remembered for his kindness, strength, sense of duty and honor, deep love of family, mischievous sense of humor, and ability to repair just about anything.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 5913 State Road, Parma, Ohio, 44134. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM. Interment at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Honor Flight Cleveland in memory of Dmytro.
