Richard Allan Brichta

September 24, 1946 — June 8, 2023

Richard Allan Brichta was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 24, 1946 and passed on June 8, 2023 in Wadsworth, Ohio.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Anne (nee Oleksa) and Joe Brichta, and his dear grandson, Peyton Riley McCarthy.  Richard met his wife of 47 years, Janet (nee Cadden) Brichta, while vacationing in Hawaii.  He is also survived by his daughter Nichole Brichta (Mike Tople).  His pride and joy were his grandchildren Caitlin, Mackenzie, Kyle, Peyton (RIP) McCarthy, Mack, Lucy and Michael (RIP) Tople.  He is also survived by many cousins, family and friends. 

Richard loved fishing, especially fly fishing in “the river”.  As a Papa, he attended many sporting events of his grandchildren, often being one of the loudest and most charismatic fans.  Richard was one of the most optimistic and outgoing people one could meet; he talked to everyone.  He is a 1966 graduate of Benedictine High School and later joined the U. S. Marine Reserves in 1969.  He retired from RTA in 2013. 

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 3 PM - 7 PM at Kolodiy-Lazuta Funeral Home 5677 State Rd. Parma, OH 44134. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10 AM at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church 3434 George Ave. Parma, OH 44134. Interment Sunset Memorial Park.

Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to A Special Wish of Northeast Ohio 23 Public Square, Brecksville, Ohio 44141.
